Bear-Resistant Green Organics Bin Application

This is a pilot program for residents located in the District of Sechelt.

*Only home-owners may apply, not tenants.

We have 175 bear-resistant bins that are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

I am a resident in the District of Sechelt

I am the home owner of the address listed below.

There is a limited number of green organics bins that are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

I understand that this is bear-resistant, not proof and that I must store this bin in a secured area unless it is collection day.

I understand that I will need to bring in my rinsed organics bin to swap for a bear-resistant bin. Staff will notify me of the available dates and the swap will take place at the Operations Centre on Dusty Road.

Note:

We are unable to deliver bear-resistant bins to households. Residents who would like a bin will need to bring their rinsed organics bin to us to swap for a bear-resistant bin. Please wait for a confirmation email and swap date before bringing in your bin.

Next Steps

Submit Payment

Bear-resistant green organics bins are $100 tax included. This is a one-time fee and the cost difference between your current organics bin and the bear-resistant one.

How to pay

  • In-person at Municipal Hall with cash, card or cheque
  • Telephone - call in your card number to Municipal Hall. 604-885-1986
  • Drop off cheque to our secure mail slot outside the entrance to Municipal Hall. Please include name, what the cheque is for and your address.
  • Mail a cheque
    • PO Box 129
      5797 Cowrie Street
      Sechelt, BC
      V0N 3A0

*Applications will not be complete until payment has been made.

Step 3: Receive confirmation email from staff. We will also let you know the date options to come and swap your bin.

Step 4: Swap old bin for new bear-resistant bin.
